Mid-Century Monday   |  Nichols Canyon Fickett   //

Hubba hubba!  I am definitely an Edward H Fickett fan ’cause, honestly, this house is perfect in my book.  Four beds in 2,265 square feet is just about right and this Nichols Canyon Fickett has been beautifully remodeled…  I’m usually a snob about someone else’s design but I can get behind every choice made here.  LOVE the marble in the kitchen that wraps down the island.  LOVE the white walls with pops of color.  LOVE the contrast of the wood beamed ceilings and concrete.  Just LOVE.  Walls of glass that seamlessly blend a gorgeous lot with the open and light interior.  And the pool (doesn’t a pool sound perfect right now? holy-hot heat!).  A few pics…

Mid-Century Monday   |   Lautner’s Silvertop  //

You, guys… It’s Silvertop!  John Lautner’s Monolithic Mid-Century home perched high above the Silver Lake Reservoir.  Considered an Organic Modernist, Lautner played with concrete, glass and wood creating a residential vision of the future.  A Jetson’s home.   Silvertop hasn’t been on the market since 1974, when the current owner’s purchased the un-finished property and hired Lautner to complete it. This home is precisely what I adore about the East-side, which is so architecturally rich and diverse.

Gorgeous, right?  There are more photos and detail here on CurbedLA.  Let us know if you would like to see it!

Mid-Century Monday  |   Los Feliz   |

Well aloha, cool Aloha house!  Ma-halo, Mid-Century Monday!  Man, I’d relish just saying I lived on Aloha street let alone in THIS house.  So centrally located, you could walk to just about everything you need.  But why would you leave?  I love the pop of color on the front door and garage.  Walls of glass, original wood beamed ceilings, and the term “open floor plan” doesn’t begin to describe what’s happening here.  What a beauty… AlohaSo, so good.  Love that the fireplace is flanked by windows.  And, can we talk about that gorgeous fiddle leaf fig?  It probably doesn’t come with, but it’s a stunner.  Aloha_1

And the light fixtures…

And the backyard with pool…  Dramatic, minimal, surprising for a Franklin Hills home.

Mid Century Monday   |

A twofer today for Mid Century Monday… A lovely Robert Kinnard designed home up Laurel Canyon in Wonderland Park and an attractively priced, late 50’s home ready for a second act in Tujunga.  Very different neighborhoods, very different list prices but both clock in with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Here they are…

I love Wonderland Park!  It’s my Utopian version of a housing development… Mid Century homes with large private lots, views, a GREAT school and minutes from the city. Take an afternoon drive up Laurel Canyon and enjoy…

Mid Century Monday

9032 Wonderland Park

This Robert Kinnard designed Mid Century is located on Wonderland Park Drive and is dramatic in all the right ways.  Soaring, vaulted ceilings that meet at the center of the living space, warm wood paneled walls, expansive sliding glass doors, and concrete floors.

I love how dramatic and open the main living spaces are with little private retreats hidden here and there, like the enclosed patio off the kitchen.  It’s smart and suits the way we live. And I’m a sucker for a Master bedroom with direct access to the pool and yard.

For the second home in our Mid Century Monday tofer, we are travelling out to Tujunga.  Yes, I know, Tujunga is nothing like Laurel Canyon but $499,000 is nothing like $1,395,000 so…

Mid Century Monday

I love that this house has only had one owner which is so rare in our ever evolving city.  In need of a little updating but the combination of privacy (it’s on a private drive) and size (3 bedrooms for $499k!?!) makes it very attractive.  Plus, I’d rather choose my own kitchen than live with someone else’s.  Remember those warm wood paneled walls in the last house?  This one has them too…

Mid Century Monday   |   Granada Hills   |

Whelp, it’s the beginning of the week and today we are focusing our Mid Century Monday attention on a new listing.  The aptly-named, Vintage Street in Granada Hills is not really sexy.  In fact, it’s straight out of Golden Girls had they lived in LA rather than Florida.  But it could be amazing…  Clocking in at 1,748 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, there is a lot you can do with great bones, even if those bones are draped in flower skirted sofas and fleur de lis accents.   A few pics…

Fab Living Room

I mean, really…   And then there’s the perfectly shaped kidney pool just off the living room.

Mid Century Monday

Love the kidney pool!

Plus the lot is just shy of 8,500 square feet, so there’s room for a garden or play space.

Mid Century Monday

I dig it!  And I especially dig the $510,000 list price!  Holy Wowza!  Here is the full listing detail.  Want to see inside?  Contact us!

Mid Century Monday   |   Beverly Hills

I have this small problem… It’s harmless enough but all consuming.  One that keeps me up at night, surfing websites way past the hour any normal working girl should be up.  It’s a completely obsessive need to make eyes with Mid Century homes.   What started out as a harmless flirtation… An “oh, aren’t you so cute and un-touched”  problem that has blossomed into a “holy Moses, let’s sell everything and buy that house!!!!” kind of problem.

So, in an effort to manage my Mid Century addiction, I’m going to talk about it openly and share it with you weekly.  It’s Mid Century Monday, y’all!  I’ll post a new Mid Century listing anywhere in Southern Cali that makes me giddy like a school girl.  If you are similarly afflicted, do share!

The first is an insanely gorgeous sprawling Mid Century in Beverly Hills.  This is a dream of a house just north of my budget.  Wait, did I say “just north”?  Sorry, I meant way, way, WAY north. (It’s listed for $8.395 M)  But it’s LOVELY.  The kitchen, the pool, the herringbone wood floors…  Slay me now!  Below are few pics and the rest can be seen here.

Mid Century

Gorgeous Mid-Century wraps around the pool.

Mid Century

Slabs of marble with cork flooring and wood panels. Great texture!

Mid Century

Wouldn’t dare cover up those herringbone floors!

I mean… Pull up a lounge chair and let’s have a cocktail!
